After School Care Bookings

If you would like to make a casual booking for after school care this week and cannot do so online, please let me know. We are currently experiencing staffing shortages across the sector. Consequently, there are some afternoons this week where booking availability is limited. If requested, I can place you on a waitlist in case of a cancellation.

Making and Doing at OSHClub

As part of our Curiosity May campaign, we have been working through a list of science experiments generated by children earlier in the month. Over the past few weeks, we have made stress balls from old slime and discovered that they are surprisingly bouncy. We had a go at making Elephant's Toothpaste after learning a little about the way hydrogen peroxide can break down slowly into water and oxygen if exposed to light, and very quickly if exposed to yeast. We also made lava lamps and a rain cloud in a jar, learning a little about density and the chemical reaction that occurs between baking soda and vinegar as we did so.

Last week, we went on a search and find mission to discover "things that do not belong" on the grassy area outside the Cafe Studio. We found all sorts of tiny discarded plastic, foil and paper hidden in the grass. Our actions led us to contemplating just how important it is to look after our environment and to care for the wildlife that visit the school grounds.

On Friday we had a visit from Leonie, one of our OSHClub educators, who is also a dog safety educator. She brought some of her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppies in for a visit before they go to their new homes this week. We had plenty of questions to ask and loved meeting Lily, Mirra, Minke and Splash!

Enrolling Your Child

For new enrolments, please go to https://www.oshclub.com.au/register/

Please be careful to select Mount Pleasant Road OSHClub, not Mount Pleasant OSHClub, which is in WA. CRN numbers and date of birth must be entered correctly. If not, this will effect your eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy.

Once your enrolment is complete it will be forwarded to the service for review. Any questions, please feel free to contact us on the Mount Pleasant OSHClub program phone - 0427 144 945.

Drop off / Pick Up Procedure

We ask that parents/carers do not come to the door or inside the room.

A drop off/pick up point has been established, which is at a distance from the room but still within our line of sight. An A-frame board has been placed at this point and is labelled with instructions.

Please call the OSHClub program phone when collecting children. We will bring your child/children out to you.

COVID Risk Management

  • The program will be run outdoors at much as possible.
  • Social distancing will be encouraged (we may make use of the Art Studio to facilitate this).
  • Children will be need to wash their hands when they arrive, as well as before eating. Children's handwashing will be supervised, and effective handwashing practices demonstrated as needed.
  • Afternoon tea will be eaten outdoors.
  • High touch surfaces will continue to be sanitised with a spray sanitiser and antibacterial wipes before and after each session.

An OSHClub staff member will continue to sign children in and out on the iPad until further notice.

The health and safety of all children in our care remains our top priority. We continue to follow all directives received from the Government to ensure best practice is adhered to in the management of COVID-19. Our COVID-19 Risk Assessment is updated regularly and in-line with government changes, and is available to view on request.

Cancellation of Bookings

IMPORTANT: If your child is booked in for an after school care session and that booking is no longer required, please cancel the booking on the iParent Portal. If you are cancelling on the day, please contact us on the program phone before 3:15pm.

We are responsible for all children booked into our care. If a child does not arrive to after school care when booked in to attend, we will need to confirm the whereabouts of the child by contacting parents/guardians and emergency contacts. If we cannot successfully do this, it then becomes a missing child incident and will need to be referred to police.

As you can imagine, this can be very stressful!

Thanks for your cooperation by notifying us of any after school care absences moving forward.
