Wellbeing Matters @ St Luke's

The Sleep Connection - Lisa Maltman

This week has been exciting, as we welcomed Lisa Maltman from The Sleep Connection to work with students, staff and parents about the critical role sleep plays in our lives. Lisa’s session focused on ‘Sleep for Better Health, Resilience and Performance.’ Students have been keeping a sleep diary over the last week and this has really allowed them to think very deliberately about their strengths, and areas to focus on, in relation to their sleep habits. Lisa will be back with us in a week to speak to our Years 8, 10 and 11 students. We will continue to focus on the key role of sleep during our Years 7-11 Mentor sessions, as our focus this term is on ‘filling our wellbeing buckets.’

Mindfulness at St Luke’s

As part of our intentional wellbeing time in Years 7-11, each week our students focus on building the skill of mindfulness. This ability to focus one’s attention on the present moment is a very powerful ‘wellbeing’ tool. It is wonderful to see students in the School of Foundations regularly engaging in mindfulness practices and realising the importance of self care. Check out the  Smiling Mind website, as it provides some really useful tools and resources around the importance of mindfulness as a way of enhancing one’s wellbeing!
