School Advisory Council

THEIR CARE WILL BE OPEN ON OUR PUPIL FREE DAY ON THE 26TH OF MAY 2022

Over the coming weeks, we are going to share a brief bio of our School Advisory Council Members.

This week: Karen Prebble.

About Me:

I’m Karen Prebble, Mum of Ed Prebble in Year 6.  I’m originally from Sydney and moved to Beechworth 17 years ago to raise a family with my husband Martin (who grew up in Albury). We have two other kids Will and Nina who have also attended St. Joseph’s.

Why I’m on the School Advisory Council:

The school council has been a constant part of my time at St. Joe’s for the past 8 years. I really enjoy how supportive and collaborative it is. Ideas are easily shared and warmly welcomed. We all want the best outcomes for our kids at the school. For me, the idea of helping to shape these outcomes is really motivating.

It doesn’t require a lot of time, and the effort is definitely outweighed by the reward. They are all great people and there is a sense that you're part of something that can make a difference.

What I Love about St. Joe’s:

Happy Kids. Over the years I've learnt that while there are always ups and downs in school life, on balance, the children are happy to come to school. There has always been a great sense of fun which has been encouraged by the leadership. If kids are happy then they can learn well. This has flowed through to the social activities and the parent groups. Within the community, there is a strong sense of care for each other.  We've been lucky to have great teachers who are passionate about the school and go the extra mile to deliver great teaching programs.
