Years F/1

Fun at Lunch Time and Class Time

Play times this week have been very wet and cool, with lots of inside time during recess and lunch time. When the students finally got outside on Tuesday, Miss Thompson snapped these great photos of some of our students enjoying the sunshine! We have had lots of students unwell the last few weeks, so we are looking forward to having our whole class back again. We have been busy practising every day for the upcoming Eisteffod too. We have a few stage nerves, as this is a first time on the big stage at the PAC for our youngest performers.

During class times this week, the Foundation students have been learning the new sounds - u, r, k, l. They have been writing, building, reading and making simple words using these sounds. Their handwriting has improved enormously and they are really showing how well they form their letters correctly. In Maths, we have been practising counting by ones up to 100 and counting small groups of objects.

This week, the Year Ones have been using the app 'Sunshine Online' on the iPads to read independently, practising reading with the decodeable texts and learning how to use and spell the /er/ sounds in words using the spellings of 'er' as in herd, 'ir' as in bird and 'ur' as hurt. In Maths, we are practising skip counting, repeated addition and counting on to increase our addition skills.
