CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Mathematics, students will be continuing to learn about place value.

VOCABULARY

Collection: A group of objects to be counted.

Digit: Digits are symbols used to represent a number (1, 2, 3). They are like an alphabet letter, but for numbers.

Value: The amount the number is worth example 256 the value of the 5 is 50

MAB: Blocks that help visualize the value of numbers.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to show the numbers in expanded form (200 + 30 + 2 = 232) and model form (drawing the value of the number as MAB - hundreds, tens and ones).
