A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Kindness Corner

Congratulations to Joel Morris for being the recipient of my Kindness award for this week. I have been most impressed with how Joel has been an excellent role model and helping the younger students during recess and lunch play. Thank you Joel.

Principals’ Conference

While we covered many topics during the conference last week the one that stood out for me was the importance of wellbeing for our students. As a staff we strive to to build a school community based on love, compassion and understanding. Our Living Well Learning Well framework helps us ensure our students are safe, valued, respected and cared for so that all students can be learners. Next week we will implement the PosiSchools wellbeing program for the second time. The program consists of 21 short daily lessons helping students to develop a positive mindset. The topics are different this year and build upon the focus areas from last year.

The Infants students focus on Curiosity. The students will learn to be an explorer and that being curious towards others is a great way to build friendships. Curious people are often good listeners and conversationalists.

Years 3-4 students focus on Caring. Students will recognise differences in their classmates and develop empathy and compassion.

Years 5-6 students focus on Mindfulness. Students will be encouraged to be aware of the present moment, learn how to be calm and choose helpful thoughts.

The lessons feature well known sporting heroes: Ash Barty (Champion Tennis player); Trent Cotchin ( AFL Captain) Sam Willoughby (Olympic BMX Rider) with new athletes this year: Alise Willoughby (BMX World Champion) & Nedd Brockman (Record Runner).

Each student will bring home a pair of POSISOCKS which they are encouraged to wear with their sports uniform each Wednesday for this term. The socks encourage the students to put their best foot forward.

Class teachers will give you more detailed information about what the students are learning and how you can support this at home.

Diocesan Athletics

We have 26 students attending the Diocesan Athletics Carnival in Tamworth this Friday. Mrs Bartholomew will be supervising the students and I will be recording results. I wish all our students the best of luck and I hope they enjoy the experience. Mrs Canham will be leading the school in my absence.

Have a happy week
