Carlsruhe Annexe /

Main Campus - Year 4

During Monday 7th August, all Year 4’s spent the day at the Carlsruhe Campus in order to undertake the planting of our new tree saplings. Following a comprehensive application process, we were delighted to be chosen as participants in the Trees for Schools Program.

Greening The West (GTW) is a regional initiative facilitated by City West Water and supported by key partnerships of local government authorities, water utilities, government agencies, industry and community groups. Urban greening encompasses activities to enhance green infrastructure outcomes including vegetation in the urban environment, parks, reserves and open spaces, community gardens and school grounds.

Students enjoyed participating in literacy, numeracy and woodwork rotations where they created the ‘John Hemiak’ pencil case!

Throughout the day small groups of students chose their tree sapling to plant around the grounds of Carlsruhe. Carefully preparing the area, digging the hole, mixing in our Carlsruhe compost to give them the best start possible for growing into mature trees. Each group will be responsible for checking in on their very own tree which will hopefully be here for many years to come. The Carlsruhe legacy begins!
