Senior Unit - 5/6
Senior Showcase!
Welcome to an update on what our Senior students have been learning about. Term 3 has been a busy one. We have been analysing Poetry and identifying Figurative Language such as metaphors, similes, alliteration, “the power of three”, repetition, idioms, hyperboles, personification and rhyming patterns.
As authors we have been replicating these language features within our poetry.
Listed are some fine examples of students poetry contributions.
Clowns, By Elsa SU2
They follow me everywhere
Like spiders creeping
Kill me or not they wouldn’t care
Their red creepy eyes seeping
Into my trembling soul
Their shirt spotted
With their ominous rainbow hair
And their pants dotted
Their big red balloons
Just cover their act
Instead of promotion they should be sacked
They want me to react
React I do
Facing my doom
I shiver and shake
All the colour in a gloom
And here is a little taste of our school camp list, By Lacey Su2 & Libby SU1
Some weird thighs happened on the bus
A note or two, not a big fuss
Matching anklets super fun
Extremely windy after some sun
Barely had any sleep
But after a while we did count some sheep
The bus ride was very long
But fun things happened all day long
And that’s all we’ve got to say
You should go there, well at least for a day
Life & Death – Diamantes, By Georgina Su2
Life
Alive, joy
Thriving, smiling, learning
Happiness fills my soul; darkness stabs me in the heart
Crying, yearning, mourning
Dead, lifeless
Death
On another note, Geography has been delightful for everyone learning about our chosen countries and all sorts of different cultures. You’ll be so fascinated by all the Yr 5/6’s spectacular presentations, from countries across Europe, Asia, and North America.
Its very exciting for all of us. Its like we’re visiting these countries and some of us are even getting to learn about our family heritage.

Our Senior students proudly represented Woodend PS down at Boardman Stadium within the District Basketball Competition. Mr Spilsted will be sharing more about their success.
This week the kids really enjoyed participating in the Lapathon. A huge thanks Ms Mann for her outstanding organisation to make this event a success.
