Visual Arts

Year 1 and 2 students explored printing with gelli plates.  They used leaves (real and artificial) to make impressions and take prints of the results. The students had lots of fun getting messy and produced some lovely prints to use in an upcoming piece of work based on the picture story book 'Snap!' which is one of this year's shortlisted books for Book Week.

Artist of the Month

Congratulations to our Artists of the Month, Sasha (5D) and Emelia (2B).

Sasha confidently used his knowledge of positive and negative space to create the winning piece of art. He made use of interesting shapes and showed a real eye for detail. His choice of contrasting colours really makes his artwork ‘pop’.

Emelia created an underwater coral scene using cool coloured oil pastels which created a resist effect when ink was painted over the top. She also added rock salt to create a bubbly effect to the water. She then added fish to their scene using warm coloured pastels.

Performing Arts

Year 1s have been learning basic skills on the ukulele to allow them to play along to simple songs.
