Book week:
Since 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has celebrated books created by Australian children’s authors and illustrators. The CBCA Books of the year awards aim to; promote quality literature for young Australians by Australians, support and encourage a wide range of Australian writers and illustrators of books for young people aged 0 through 18 and celebrate contributions to Australian children’s literature.
Book Week allows libraries across the country to bring children and books together in a variety of ways; author visits, competitions, Dress Up events, as well as many learning and art activities.
At MAG, the Resource Centre Team and Committee will present a number of large and small events throughout the week. Planning is underway for some great art and craft activities for students to engage in during lunchtimes.
Our annual book character dress up day will take place on Wednesday 23 August and parents are invited to come along to support this fun morning. More information to come.
This year we have also joined the Shadow Judging Program presented by CBCA, which allows the School to place a people's choice vote for specific categories. Students are encouraged to provide verbal feedback about different books and vote for their favourites.
Keep reading everyone!
