Year 7

English: Honeyspot unit

At the conclusion of the Year 7s Honeyspot unit, the students had the opportunity to perform and record scenes that they wrote for their assessments or a trailer for Honeyspot. With props and costumes available, our students were excited to share their films at our Honeyspot premiere in the last lesson of the term. Lots of laughter and silliness shared- what a great way to end Term 2!

Year 8

Community Service and Volunteering

Our Year 8 Community Service and Volunteering Class initiated their first ‘project’ for Semester 2. Mindful that the Winter months are cold and are a time when people really appreciate a warm meal they have decided that the Year 8 cohort will undertake a food drive, with the collected goods given as a donation to the local FoodBank.

The project will run for 4 weeks commencing on Monday the 17th of July. Each week will bring a new focus item. So for Week 1 we are asking for Year 8 students to bring along a packet of pasta. In Week 2 we will be collecting a pasta sauce. In Week 3 a tin of soup or a tinned meal, such as baked beans and in Week 4 we will conclude our collection with a bag of rice.

In all we think we can collect over 220 items! This will make a big difference to the work of Echuca/Moama’s Foodbank and its ability to provide individuals and families who are in need this Winter.

Whilst the project is aimed at ‘calling on the generosity’ of our Year 8 students, it certainly doesn’t disclude other members of our school community from making a donation. If you would like to contribute an item to our collection it would be gratefully received and may be left at Front Reception or Student Services.

We congratulate the Year 8 Community Service and Volunteering Class for their endeavours, in this their first initiative, and we look forward to hearing about what other acts of servant leadership they have in store for us in the coming months.
