Acting Principal's Notes

100 days at school

What an exciting start to the week we had! To celebrate their first 100 days at school the Foundation / Year 1 students and Miss Gray, dressed up as centenarians. Walking sticks, grey hair and cardigans were in abundance. The children were so excited and embraced their elderly persona's with aplomb. Be sure to check out their fun photos in the newsletter today.

Principal's Day 2023

Today is Victorian School's Principal Day!

Principals’ Day for Victorian government schools is an initiative started more than 20 years ago by the Victorian Principals Association. It is an important opportunity to pause, recognise and appreciate the unique role principal's play in and for all our communities.

Ms Ferrier was not forgotten today. All the children made a short video thanking her for being a wonderful Principal and congratulated her on her recent engagement. We can congratulate her in person when she returns to work on Monday August 14.

A Message from Miss P - Acting Principal

Thank you to the students and staff of Cavendish PS who gave me some lovely cards and morning tea for Principal's Day.  I would especially like to acknowledge the amazing presentation, instigated by Tammy, and presented by Miss Gray's class as they recreated moments from my 34 year teaching career, at Cavendish PS. It was very entertaining! We then enjoyed watching a highlights video of some of my lockdown 'performances' during remote learning. The memories!

When people ask why I have not moved to another school I just tell them that Cavendish has the best students, best grounds and a wonderfully caring and supportive community, Why would I move? Thank you everyone.

Parent/Caregivers Opinion Survey

All families are invited to participate in the 2023 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey. Each year the school conducts this survey with the school community. Results will be used to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement. The link and further information can be found within this newsletter.

A reminder to complete the survey will be put on uEducateUs next week.

Sporting Schools - Term 3

This term we will be travelling to Hamilton for Taekwondo lessons with Master Muhktar Kadiri. The previous times we have worked with Muhktar have been fantastic and we are lucky to get the opportunity to learn with him again.

Each year group, Yr F-2 and Yr 4-6, will have two sessions with Muhktar at Palace Martial Arts on a Tuesday afternoon. Travel will be on Jon Herrmann's bus and there will be no cost to parents.

Session Times (to be confirmed):

                                Year 4-6   Tuesday 22 and 29 August

                                 Year F-2  Tuesday 5  and 12 September

Monthly Blitz

Our new blitz for August is INTEGRITY.

Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.

New laptops and Ipads

A very big THANK YOU to the Parents Club and Cavendish Lions Club for generously providing the funding to purchase new devices for the school. The Parents Club contribution allowed us to by two laptops and 2 Ipads. The Lions Club funding helped purchase 2 new laptops. These will be invaluable for our students as they navigate an increasingly technical world.
