Teaching and Learning
Term 3
Last week we had our Variation to School Day, our third Student Support Group( SSG) meeting for the year. This was a highly successful day with 445 bookings across the school! If you have any feedback about the day, please feel free to email myself directly on flora.nixon@education.vic.gov.au.
These meetings are a partnership between schools, parents/carers, the student, and any external agencies where appropriate. As a school we find these meetings highly valuable, and we hope the community does too.
In our Secondary 11/12 section there are always exciting events where students have an opportunity to transfer their classroom learning to purposeful tasks. I was lucky enough to visit the Year 12 Showcase session last Friday along with many other community members. I was very proud of the student’s knowledge and confidence when sharing their displays with me… not to mention the variety of sweet and savoy treats on offer.
Next Friday (18th August) our Year 11 students will invite their community in for their Student Expo where they will be sharing their ‘Make a Change’ projects from 1:30pm-2:30pm in the 11/12 building.
On Monday 21st August, students at our Bundoora campus will be having a visit from the Surf Life Saving helicopter. Students will have an opportunity to look around the helicopter and ask questions, whilst also participating in a short Surf Life Saving Information session. Teachers will prepare the students and the neighbouring community for this exciting event!
Take care,
