Japanese

Bawden Sensei

こんにちは、”Konnichiwa” from Japanese class!

Welcome back to Term 3, I hope you have had a lovely winter break.

In the Japanese lesson this term, we have started with Naidoc Week, then there will be Tanabata (Star Festival), World Emoji Day, Children's Day (Aboriginal and Torres Islanders), Bomb Day, Father's Day, and Respect for the Aged Day are coming up!

In the first week, we learnt the indigenous people in Japan called Ainu. We compared and contrast those designs in both Ainu and Aboriginal arts. The Ainu are an indigenous people from northern part of Japan called Hokkaido. The Ainu culture is distinctive, with a language unrelated to Japanese. Ainu were traditionally animists, believing that all things were endowed with spirits or god (kamuy). Students made both Ainu and Aboriginal arts in this week and I will put them all up soon.

That is all from Japanese class.

Please do not hesitate to ask any inquiries or suggestions to the Japanese class!
