Regional Footy Day Report

On Tuesday, the 5/6 Mixed AFL team went to Templestowe Reserve to compete with other schools in our region to represent Eastern Melbourne at the State Finals.

Naturally, we had high hopes with a 10-0 record. We were shocked in our first game but managed to grind out a win with some great extra efforts from the backline to deny Templestowe Heights Primary a victory.

We then played Mount Scopus who put us to the sword in the second half, giving us a taste of our first-ever defeat.

Still, the team rallied for our final game against Tecoma Primary. It was a hard slog with some injuries acquired by some of our key defenders. We were extremely gallant until the end but unfortunately went down by a mere 3 points. Our Mid-field played their best football when under the pump but still we were unfortunate not to kick a goal to seal the victory.

Whilst we ended the day a little glum and morose, it cannot be denied by any who watched Kalinda play that we were tough competitors, great players and even better people.

I’m extremely proud of our students’ effort and resilience as were all the parents who attended.

Congratulations Team, on one of the most successful Interschool Sports teams we’ve had at Kalinda.

Congratulations Parkes!
Congratulations Parkes!

Just last week we announced the winning house from the House Athletics Carnival and presented ribbons to the students who finished either 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall in an event respective of age and gender.

The house results were as follows;

1st Parkes ( Blue )

2nd Chisholm ( Red )

3rd McCubbbin ( Green )

4th Melba ( Yellow )

Parkes hasn’t won the House Athletics Carnival since 2015, so it was a long time coming, well done Parkes.

Congratulations to the students who were selected to represent Kalinda Primary School at the upcoming Ringwood North District Athletics Carnival. These students were selected based on their results from the House Athletics Carnival. They will have the opportunity to compete in specific events against students of the same gender and age from other schools in the Ringwood North District. We wish them all the best of luck as they progress through to the next level.

             Grade 3/4 Hooptime

A selection of students in Grades 3 and 4 recently participated in the Junior Hooptime Basketball Competition at Kilsyth Basketball Stadium.

We had two All-Stars Teams who competed in a tough competition. Our All Stars 1 team made it to the Grand Final but unfortunately lost in a very close match!
