Primary Community News

Foundation (Prep-Year 2)

Prep A and B have been learning about different types of environments through the books ‘School Days,’ ‘Deep deep down in the deep blue sea’ and ‘The outback’ in literacy lessons. We have especially enjoyed making the underwater environment role play area with paint, glitter and colouring and retelling the story with underwater animals. We even got a special octopus visitor that the students were excited to see and explore.

In numeracy lessons, Prep A and B have been learning all about Australian Money through hands on activities and a restaurant role play area. We have been sorting money into colours and notes and coins and have started exchanging money for food in our restaurant. We would love to extend our learning into the real world and start helping our families and carers buy items from the shops.

Lower Primary (Years 3-4)

The 3/4’s have been learning about reducing, reusing, recycling, and rot throughout term 3. We have created our favourite characters from a book we have been reading in our classroom from recycled materials. We had fun making our favourite characters. Here are some pictures of us with our character we created.

Upper Primary (Years 5-6)

In maths, students have been measuring length, capacity and mass. We measured the length of objects with different measuring tools including blocks, dinosaur footprints, popsicle sticks and footsteps. We have been organising items into equal groups and rows as we learned about multiplication.

Students enjoyed participating in a variety of activities during the term including Book Week, Bunnings Incursion and R U Okay Day.

Our inquiry topic has been materials and mixtures. During our lessons, we learned to identify different materials and their properties. We have conducted a variety of different experiments including freezing and melting items and investigating how different ingredients mix. We have made mixtures that we can eat including moon rocks, bread and butter and written about our experiences.
