Year 1 Stay Late

On Thursday 3rd November 2022, Year 1 students were invited to stay late at the end of the school day, as part of the Brookside College camping program.

Year 1 students stayed at the college from 3:15pm-6:00pm and enjoyed a healthy snack for afternoon tea, watched a magic show and participated in teacher led activities with their peers. To conclude the night, students enjoyed pizza for dinner. The students had a great time with their teachers and peers and now look forward to staying at school even longer when they will have the Year 2 Sleepover next year.

Year 3 Camp

Our Year 3 students attended camp last week 2/11/2022 until 4/11 2022 at Log Cabin Camp, Creswick. They had an amazing experience participating in activities such as Frisbee Golf, Zip Line, Giant Swing and much more. The camp provided the Year 3 students with a camping program that allowed them the opportunity to demonstrate their resilience, leadership skills, and build relationships with peers and teachers. The camp was set in a rustic bush location in a unique setting and nearly all the activities the students participated in were led by friendly and happy camp leaders. Most importantly the food was delicious and there was lots of it.

The students represented the college exceptionally well and thoroughly enjoyed their first school camping experience.

Year 6 and Year 9 Graduation

Over the last couple of weeks, families of students in Year 6 and Year 9 have had information communicated regarding graduation. Please refer to Compass regarding the specific information.

We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our students and their families.

End of year concert

On Monday 12th December 2022, our primary students will be participating in the Brookside End of Year Concert, so please mark this date on your calendar. Students have started talking about the event with their teachers and peers and will begin practising in the coming weeks.

Gates open at 4:30pm. The Year 7-9 Music students will be playing music from 4:45pm to approx. 5:15pm. Years P-6 students will be performing from 5:30pm until approx. 7pm.

We are looking forward to our community attending this event after having to do this performance virtually the last couple of years!

Prep Transition

We have welcomed our 2023 Prep students to the college over the past couple of Fridays while they have had the opportunity to participate in the Prep Transition program. This is a very exciting time for our new students and their families and it has been nice to see so many smiling faces both at the beginning and end of each transition session.

Swimming Program

We are happy that students in Prep, Year 1, 3, 5, 6 & 7 have the opportunity to participate in a swimming program this year, after having to cancel it the past couple of years due to Covid. The swimming program has started this week for our Year 5, 6 and 7 students. Our Prep, Year 1 and 3 students will be attending next week.

Students in the year levels mentioned above will be involved in a swimming program for 1 week, attending the State Swim centre in Caroline Springs. Students will participate in 5 swimming lessons across the week with a qualified swim instructor. Students will walk to and from the venue accompanied by 2 staff members during their allocated swimming time.

If your child is participating please ensure they have the following:

- Bathers

- Towel

- Dry clothes to change into after swimming

- Plastic bag for wet clothes

What great weather we have been provided with to start the swimming program off!
