From the Principal

Week 2 Term4 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

2023 Prep Orientation

We are excitedly preparing to welcome our 2023 Prep families and students for the Orientation program that will commence next Tuesday.

This program allows for the children to become familar with school life. While some students already have a sibling at St Bede's and "know the school" the transition from Kinder to Primary can be overwhelming for some.

If you do see our new families around the school over the coming weeks please say "Hi" and make sure they feel welcomed into our wonderful community.

Educational  Considerations 2023/ class placements ( repeat)

Planning for 2023  is well underway. As in previous years I ask that if there are any Educational considerations from parents that they please be emailed to myself by the 14th October. Educational considerations are exactly what the name states. They are considerations that add to the information that the teachers already have on a child when deciding where to place them for the following year.

There is a lot of time and thought that goes into the placement of each child each year.

Lost Property

The lost property shelves/drawers are quickly filling up!!!!! I ask that if your child does not bring home an item of clothing, that you remind them to check  lost property. I will also be reminding the students.

COVID update

The following infromation was provided to schools yesterday.

Changes to COVID-19 isolation requirements

It is strongly recommended that students:

  • who test positive for COVID-19 should stay home and isolate for five days
  • should not attend school after five days if still symptomatic
  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school.

Where students become symptomatic at school, they should:

  • be collected by their parents/carers
  • undergo testing for COVID-19.

It is strongly recommended that staff:

  • who test positive for COVID-19 should stay home and isolate for five days
  • should not attend school after five days if still symptomatic
  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school.

COVID-19 reporting requirements

The Department of Health recommends that a person who tests positive for COVID-19 should inform those with whom they have recently been in contact, including their workplace, school and household.

Schools are therefore asked to continue reporting positive COVID-19 cases to Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS).

Schools no longer are required to inform their  communities of positive cases.

Face masks

Staff and students who wish to wear a face mask should be supported to do so. (Masks are avaliable at school.)

The Department of Health recommends that masks should be worn by a person who is a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 when leaving home.

Additionally, the department recommends that masks should be worn by a person who has COVID-19 for 10 days after a positive test when they need to leave home.

Colour Fun Run

During the week all families  received a permission form via Operoo for your child to attend the colour fun run at Myrtle Park.  I ask that you complete the form ASAP

Hats

As the weather is warming up just a reminder that all staff and students need to wear a hat whilst outside. If a student forgets their hat they will need to play in the shade.

Uniform changeover

The beginning of Term 4 is the changeover of uniforms for all students. Given our current cold weather  (rain!!!!!) students are permitted to transition from winter uniform to summer uniform.  The expectation is that all students will transition to full summer uniform by Monday 24th October. If there are any issues with the wearing of the school uniform please send a note to the classroom teacher.

Division Athletics

Congratualtions to all the students who represented St Bedes at the Division Athletics

Good luck to Christian who has made it through to the Eastern Metro Region for Discus. He will compete next Thursday.

Have a great week
