THANK YOU BUNINYONG PS!

Footy Colours Day Recap

Thanks for the enthusiasm and energy that went into footy colours day at the end of term 3. The students enjoyed the opportunity to show support for their favourite teams and there was some friendly rivalry throughout the day!

We must also congratulate everyone for the support shown towards Mphatso through the inaugural “Buninyong Cup” competition. While the final amount raised is still being counted, there was over 100kg of coins collected, an outstanding effort. We’ll let you know as soon as we have a total.

Mrs Boma was able to tell us at assembly about the current conditions in Malawi, including the fact they have had no power for around 6 months and that the prices of things have gone up about ten times what they used to be. For lots of students, the bowl of porridge they get at school will be their only meal for the day. We know that they will be really grateful for all of the donations received from our wonderful students and families.

Congratulations to the winning teams! Each of the top 5 teams required at least one additional container for their coins. The final results are in!

Congratulations to GEELONG on winning the Buninyong Cup! This turned out to be an auspicious sign for the cats.

Here are the teams in order.

  1. Geelong Cats- winner of the Buninyong Cup! 4 containers needed to fit the coins!

While there was some disappointment the weather forced the postponement of the staff vs grade 6 students footy match, an annual fixture on our school calendar, this was overcome by the staff vs grade 6 students dodgeball game in the gym.

Stay tuned for the date of the rescheduled staff vs student footy match!

As many of you may know, we have had an ongoing relationship with Mphatso Children’s Foundation in Malawi for many years. A former parent of Buninyong PS, Robyn Casey, established the Mphatso Children’s Foundation back in 2004. Their mission is to FEED THE CHILDREN, GROW THE COMMUNITY & IMPACT THE FUTURE.

The latest newsletter update from Robyn in Malawai can be found HERE… an excerpt is below.

Greetings everyone from the Warm Heart of Africa – Malawi!!

Malawi continues to be ridiculously chaotic and fabulous.  No regular fuel supply, no electricity in the village for the last 4 to 5 months and no likelihood of it being restored.  Limited food options but still I am living so much better than our friends in the village.  Under incredibly difficult circumstances, they continue to live with great joy.

We are truly blessed.  Just today we had 3 sets of malnourished twins visit with their mums/ama's to seek help.  We are struggling to find the formula needed but we will help these babies.

If you have helped Mphatso (Gift) Children's Foundation in anyway, we are extremely thankful.  It is so encouraging for me here in Malawi to know that you not only remember us but respond with either words of support, monetary support or most importantly your prayers and kind thoughts.

ROCCH Awards

Congratulations to the 5-6 students who were recognised with a ROCCH award at our end of term assembly for doing wonderful things at school! Well done.
