CARECROWS
Front yard figures that care!
As part of an Action Team challenge, the Senior students created 'Carecrows' to help lift the spirits and provide support for mental health in their local community.
Carecrows can be made from anything around the home, such as disposable objects, fabric, sticks, wood and plastic bottles.
PE NEWS
The Junior students have noticed changes to their bodies while doing exercises. Exercise affects your body in different ways.
Senior students in Physical Education during Remote Learning have been working on different training routines for their athlete that they have chosen.
Training Routine
NAME: Charlotte HOMEGROUP:TP
Athlete: Ariarne Titmus
Sport: Swimming
What type of training do you recommend your athlete should do to improve their performance?
Look at the FITT principle, which means the following:
Frequency (How often) Trains 6-7 days a week
Intensity (How hard) 199 heart rate (75% is 149.25) max
Time (How long) 3 hours minimum 6-7 days a week
Type (Description of the Activity)
500m to compete in the 400m, 3-4 days a week, at night, weight training for about an hour 3 days a week. Practise 100 more metres than what she is competing in so that she finds it a little bit easier on the day. Some cardio for an hour, 4 days a week.

Online Footy Fun Day
What a fantastic end to the term!!! As you can see there was a multitude of sports tops and colours.
(Insert photos home group teachers send)
We hope the students enjoyed the footy activities provided online. They varied from sporting, literacy, numeracy and craft activities. Hopefully there were activities that interested each student.
Even though our grand final is not here in Melbourne this year, it is exciting that 2 Melbourne teams, Melbourne and Western Bulldogs will be competing!! I am sure all eyes will be glued to our televisions on Saturday 25th September!!
Term 4 Swimming Update
Unfortunately due to the uncertainty with covid and when students will return to school next term, as well as what restrictions will be placed on schools, we have had to cancel swimming for Term 4.
We are concerned that this is the second year in a row students have missed out on swimming and with summer approaching many students will be in or near water.
We have included a water safety website for parents to use with their children. The website has parent resources and also resources for children. We would encourage you to have a look at the website called Kids Alive do the Five - https://kidsalive.com.au/ and use it with your children as we approach summer.
We will also be attempting to book in a water safety session for each level next term, providing we are able to have visitors to the school.
We will provide a further update of other sporting activities early in Term 4, once we know when students will be returning to school.
We wish everyone a safe and restful holiday. We look forward to hopefully seeing all our students back sometime in Term 4!

ITALIAN
What a wonderful term of learning for all our SFS children in Italian.
This term our Junior students have been focussing on the ELLA APP called going camping with a specific focus on family. The children have displayed their learning in so many creative ways especially during home learning.
Our Senior students have continued to work on learning functional language to communicate with others. During our home schooling they have also participated in fortnightly Trivia about Italy in preparation for their Term 4 investigations.
In today’s newsletter I have included some of the great recordings I have received during remote learning of SFS students practicing their Italian.
I would also like to personally thank all the parents for your support in assisting your child/ren with their Italian learning during remote learning.
Grazie for all the wonderful videos sent, it really put a smile on my face.
