Internet Safety

On Tuesday night, I attended the webinar "eSafety's Parent Guide to Popular Apps", which was very informative, providing information on the most popular Apps our students/children use, as well as guidelines on 'Parental Controls in Social Media, Games and Apps'.

Here is a weblink for the eSafety Commissioner's page, that has many helpful facts and guidelines for you to read and help your children. https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents

Here is some information for you.

Some of the Apps students are using

Teaching your child about the use of Social Media

Questions to ask when deciding on whether your child is ready for social media.

'Tik Tok' is an App recommended for people 13+. Which means that anyone over 13 is putting short videos online. These videos could have inappropriate content for children under 13 years of age. See below for some points you should consider before allowing your child access to this App.

Here are some settings you should check.

There is a lot of information to go through in deciding what Apps your child should have, but your children are important and it is worth taking the time to have the privacy settings and other settings put in place to protect your child.

Dentist

The dental van will still be visiting Sacred Heart in the last week of term, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th September, even though we will still be in lockdown.

If you filled the forms in earlier this term, the dentist will be contacting parents directly in the coming weeks and will let you know what time your child's appointment will be.

The van will be in the yard and parents will be asked to bring their child to the appointment. All COVID safe practices will be in place.

Sacrament Dates:

Sacrament of Reconciliation has been postponed due to the current Covid Lockdown. A new date to be advised.

Catholic students in Year 4 will be receiving the Sacrament of First Communion on Sunday 12th September at 10:30am mass. TBC
