Dear Sacred Heart Community

School Closure Extended

On Tuesday our Premier confirmed the news that school will not reopen this term due to the growing number of Covid 19 cases. A decision about our students returning in Term Four is yet to be made. I will continue to keep you informed when I receive the relevant information.

A Prayer for the People of Afghanistan

Dear Lord

We lift up the people of Afghanistan to you right now. We pray that you would take hold of them and help them walk through this fearful time. Protect them under your wing and help them feel the comfort and peace that only comes from your powerful presence.

So many people who have called this place their home have been displaced because of this event. Remind them, Lord, that their true home is in Heaven with you. Give those who believe in you the courage to stand strong in their faith and be a strong witness for you.

Also, be with those who do not believe in you – help them to see the peace in your followers and allow the Holy Spirit to stir in their hearts as they witness this.

Amen

School Closure Day

As has been mentioned in our newsletter these past four weeks, our school closureday this term for staff to work on their professional development, will be next Friday 10th September. On this day, our staff will be working on the faith development part of our student's curriculum

Our school will not be open for our students who have been working onsite during the lockdowns.

To all the fathers within our Sacred Heart School community, we wish you a special Father's Day. Despite the restrictions imposed by the current lockdown, we hope that Sunday can be a special a day with your family. I pray that all our fathers know that they play a very important role in their child/ren's lives and that our Sacred Heart students are fortunate to have dads who care so much for them.

Welcome To Our New Year Prep Student Tulele

A big welcome to our new Year Prep student Tulele Isaac who has joined our school this week. We are so happy to have Tulele Isaac and his family join our Sacred Heart School community. We would like to also congratulate Tulele's mum Imelda and dad Murray, on the birth of a little brother for Tulele Isaac

LSO (Learning Support Officer) Week

This week we celebrate our magnificent LSO's and the valuable contribution they all make in the life of our school. From working with individual children with their learning, to taking small groups across different areas of the curriculum, to helping teachers with planning and creating displays in classrooms and corridors to make our school look great, we say a collective T H AN K Y O U !!

To Rose-Lee in the seniors, to Francesca in the middle years of the school, to Kartia in the P-2 space, we say thanks. A big thanks also to Alex and Demi who have been part of our onsite learning for students across P-6 over this incredibly difficult time. You are all such integral members of our school and your contributions are valued by all at Sacred Heart!

Book Week Assembly

Last Friday we held our first whole school online assembly to celebrate book week. Thank you to Jessica our Learning and Teaching Coordinator who organised the event. It was so refreshing to see all our students online and as can be seen from a sample of photos below, some really creative book week costumes.

School Review

Yesterday our school leadership team, along with staff from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACs), meet with Dr Mary Lovelock to receive her report on how our school is operating, and recommendations for further directions over the next four years. Mary's findings will be presented at our upcoming School Advisory Board meeting and then will be disseminated to the wider school community.

Please stay safe.

Yours sincerely
