Visual Arts Update

With every lockdown there is a lot of re-planning and problem-solving met with imaginative solutions in our department. The Artist in Residence Program has been temporarily postponed, our Year 7 painting/glazing units remain unfinished, as do some amazing Year 11 VCD skateboards - all so close yet so far from completion.

The majority of our Visual Arts program cannot continue remotely, with new units developed and delivered in their place. We are, however, just waiting and longing to return, so we can finish off these hands-on, messier tasks that were abruptly interrupted. Just a bump in the road.

Rest assured Year 8 students, your ceramic elements have been repeatedly sprayed, remain workable and will be ready for you to finish when we/you can. The Studio Assistant, Ms Olivia Grbac, has been carefully tending to these, making sure they do not dry out.

Until then, here is a sneak peak of the students in action, involved and focused on developing their fine motor skills and technique.

YEAR 7

YEAR 11

Year 12 Studio Art and VCD

However, nothing could stop the Year 12 students, who continued to work on their finals remotely, having ‘click and collected’ many supplies, materials and work over the last few weeks; a delivery was even organised. I hope you can join me in wishing our Year 12 Studio Art and VCD student's great success, having submitted their Unit 4 SAT’s/folios for assessment. These photos were taken some time ago, with significant progress since.

2021 Art & Design Exhibition

I am very proud of our students and look forward to sharing their incredible work with you all, hopefully onsite and online, during the '2021 Art & Design exhibition'. We will again be hosting an online exhibition, so keep your eyes open for important details come October. This year, we are hoping to give students the opportunity to choose their favorite work for inclusion, dependent on time and the quantity available. Work has already begun, the posters and form layouts are vibrant and playful, a real celebration of youthful creativity.

Take care and stay safe everyone.
