Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

In light of my ongoing awareness of families within our school who are facing challenging times, and a couple of families who have spoken to me this week about their need for support in very trying circumstances, I would like to present The Beatitudes as a reminder that Jesus is always with us, no matter how dark the times are.

THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Gospel of Matthew 5:3-10

Welcome Cristina

Hi! My name is Cristina and I will be working in the school office from Monday through Thursday. I feel blessed to be part of this wonderful community at Sacred Heart.

I have only just started here and have already met so many lovely people in the past week - students, parents and educators and look forward to meeting so many more!

I feel like I have been part of the Sacred Heart community for a while, as I previously worked in the Church Presbytery for nearly four years. I am passionate about helping others and feel privileged to now be in a position of support to the wonderful staff and families at this school.

In my personal time, my other passions are spending time with my beautiful family and friends, playing and watching netball, baking and playing and listening to music.

Conference

Next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I willcontinue the second part of my leadership conference, when I will again be looking  at the implications of our new governance arrangements and its implications on my Catholic leadership. In my absence, Jess will again be our very capable Sacred Heart School community leader.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all our parents and guardians who came out on a cold wet afternoon and evening, to participate in our parent/teacher interviews. Again your willingness to trust, question and if needed to challenge, continues to allow us to work together with a shared vision and understanding so we can achieve the best for your children our students.

Parents and Friend's News

The next meeting for our P and F group will be tomorrow Friday 15th July commencing at 9.00am in the staffroom. As always all parents are invited to join our vibrant and friendly group. We will be discussing events for this term including Father's Day and a Football Day. The possible resumption of our school Dinner Dance which has been in hiatus the past two years because of COVID restrictions, is also on the agenda to be discussed.

RAT

The latest directive from our state government is that RAT only need to be used in the event that a student exhibits any COVID symptoms. During the term you will be given three boxes to store with the first box being given to all students tomorrow.

Meet our new After School Care Coordinator

Hi my name’s Jaime!

I was born in New South Wales and spent my childhood on a little plot of land in an equally as little place called Yanco. Never heard of it? Don’t worry no one has. It’s a little town of 300 people about an hour and half northwest of Wagga Wagga. When I was in high school my family moved to Victoria, to a slightly less little place called Terang. Never heard of that either? Well, it’s about 45 minutes east of Warrnambool. And situated along the sublime Great Ocean Road!

I moved to the big smoke just over 2 years ago to pursue my dreams of going to university and studying psychology. I hope to one day work somewhere that will let me have a positive impact on kids from all around. Which brings me to where I am today. I’ve been running the afterschool care here at Sacred Heart for the last few weeks of the second term, and both the kids and I have been having a ball. The kids are even helping me perfect my Nachos!

When I’m not cooking up a storm at afterschool care you can probably find me lifeguarding at a few pools in either Moreland or Hume City. Otherwise, I’m usually teaching James the sports teacher how to make runs.

That’s about all there is it to it, can’t wait to see you at afterschool care!

Enrolments for 2023

Whilst enrolments for Year Prep 2023 unofficially closed at the end of last term, we still have positions for Year Prep in 2023. We will therefore continue to take applications. If you know of any families who would like a tour, please encourage them to contact the school by phone or email.

Joke Corner (From the Parish Bulletin)

Newly arrived to Australia Irish priest Father John O'Malley was transferred to an outback town. The day after he arrived Fr O’Malley rose early as it was a fine winter’s day and he wanted to look around his new parish. He opened his bedroom window and took in a few deep breaths of the fresh morning air. “Saint Patrick give me strength! What’s dat on the grass?” Father O'Malley spotted a dead donkey lying on his front lawn. He promptly called the local police station. “Good morning. This is Sergeant Jones. How might I help you?” “And a top of the morning te yerself. This is Father O'Malley at St Ann's Catholic Church. There's a dead donkey on me front lawn. Would ye be so kind as to send a couple o'yer lads over to take care of the matter?” Sergeant Jones considered himself to be quite a wit and recognising the Irish accent thought he would have a little fun with the new priest. He said, “Well now Father, it was always my impression that priests took care of the last rites!” There was a long silence before Father O'Malley replied, “Aye, 'as blue as the sky is today dat is true, but we are also obliged to first notify the next of kin which is the reason for me call.

Yours Sincerely
