A New Chapter

STORIES FROM THE LIBRARY

A New Chapter: Stories from the Library.

With many new books now available for borrowing, it is exciting to see students immersing themselves in the rich worlds of so many stories. Student requests for new titles are many and varied: Titanic, football, horses, cricket, Minecraft, World Records, Wings of Fire, Alex Rider, Harry Potter, The Hobbit. We look forward to displaying many more new books - fiction and non-fiction - in our architecturally designed new library next year. This will provide expansive teaching and learning spaces with a large reading corner, spacious seating area and cosy reading nooks. The extra space will allow the library to open at break times during the day and for a short time after school.

Premier’s Reading Challenge forms will be collected early in the last week of term and students are encouraged to continue recording everything they read. Extra forms are available from the library or office for keen readers who complete their first form - multiple forms can be stapled together.  During Book Week in August, it will be encouraging to see some students awarded for their achievements in the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

All students who have read ten books will receive a certificate.

“At the moment that we persuade a child, any child, to cross that threshold, that magic threshold into a library, we change their lives forever, for the better. It’s an enormous force for good.”  Barack Obama
