Principal's Message

Mr Ian Elder

In my previous communications, I have mentioned two exciting improvements for The King's College.

  1. New Primary School
  2. Canteen

It is not uncommon that planning and approval can take longer than expected, but we now have the go-ahead to commence both projects.

New Primary School

As you enter the College, the land to the left of the entry, where the old house is currently situated, will become the primary school site. The old house will be demolished, and site works will commence in preparation for the placement of the building, associated traffic flow and car parking.

Canteen

This is a much-needed facility and, together with a gymnasium, featured highly when students were surveyed.

The building of a canteen within our existing classroom spaces is not possible until the primary school moves to the new location. This will allow these rooms to be redesigned. Rather than wait, we will be constructing a mobile canteen on the grassed area as shown below.

In the future, the mobile canteen can be relocated to the primary school site to allow for:

  • Distribution of canteen food for the primary students that is prepared in the main canteen on the secondary site.
  • Morning coffee for parents dropping their children at the College.

The King's Community Care

We understand that the rising cost of living is affecting most people. If you are struggling to make ends meet, The King's Chapel's community arm, The King's Community Care provides those in need with hampers each Wednesday from 10am-11am to help families stretch their dollars further.

If you are in need you are welcome to participate. Please bring a laundry basket or box to fill with fresh fruit, veg, bread, meat and other items to help you. For more information, please call Ps Maighread Warchot at The King's Chapel on 9411 4111.
