Religious Education

May you be strong in courage and confidence.
May you be wise in choices and decisions.
May you be caring of all relationships and compassionate to those in need.
May you meet life’s adventure with a clear mind and a bold heart.
May your integrity be a gift to the world
May the Spirit of God be with you always.
This Sunday many of our Year 5 and 6 students will make their Confirmation. Confirmation is the third Sacrament of Initiation and is the Sacrament where those that have been Baptised continue their journey to receive the Holy Spirit. They are gifted gifts from the Holy Spirit which strengthens them to bear witness to Christ. The celebration will be led by Bishop Terry Curtin and Father Leo.
The students have prepared for Confirmation in their Religious Education classes. They have explored the Pentecost story and how this relates to them as the embark on the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students have learnt about the signs and symbols related to this sacrament. They developed an understanding of ‘spirit’ and explored the gifts, fruits and symbols of the Holy Spirit. The students were asked to choose a Saint name and they reflected on why they chose this particular name.
Tomorrow we will have a Confirmation Reflection Day which will include celebrating Mass with Father Leo and a Confirmation prayer session. On Friday the students will be having a practise in the Church in preparation for the Sacrament on Sunday.
