Parents & Friends News

Dear all,

This week is the first newsletter since The Prom Went Wrong… and WRONG it went, in a very good way. There is photo evidence of how wrong it went, courtesy of our photographer for the night Mr Speranza.  The fun was great, the games were entertaining and people went all out with the outfits. Our king and queen of the night came dressed royally ready to sit in their thrones. I got to meet everyone at the door and I was very impressed with how little I was able to recognize people. The wigs, the dresses, the fake bumps and blow up boom-boxes, the make up, the ridiculous and the actually-nice vintage dress up’s were incredible. Well done to all the guests for all your effort. The drinks were flowing all night and the auctions were a great success.

The amount of donations we were able to secure was outstanding and here I say a massive thank you to Angela and Jo who worked tirelessly to not only secure the donations, they also made sure online auctions were a success. All the descriptions, pictures and  IT behind all our auctions wouldn’t happen without them.

The Creative Director- Lynn, the incredibly creative brain behind all the prom. From the games to the delivery and execution this event wouldn’t be the success it was without her. Her planning made this event a reality. Her love for this community stretches far beyond this event.

Our ‘Doer’ as I call her- Louisa. There isn’t anything this woman can’t do. You tell her at 7pm on Friday that you need red carpet and she gets it done! The connections she has secured some of the amazing donations for the night. Her creativity and IT skills have proven to be invaluable. Not to mention the mixing skills for the cocktails.

Lynn, Lou, Angela, Jo and I have done an incredible job and together we worked very hard to create this event and make it the best night possible for all. I’m very proud of the team we have been and work we have done together.

We couldn’t have done it without our generous community, I’m blown away by how willing everyone in St Mary’s Primary is. Thank you all for your donations. And to everyone who bid on the items online and in person on the night- you rock! This event wouldn’t be this successful without you all.

Thank you to the staff, the teachers of all grades, the Arts teacher Mrs Sandra Renehan for helping our kids create the amazing art for the auction. I know you didn’t have much time to prepare this and we do appreciate your effort.

As always, big thank you to Mrs Ferrari and Mr Speranza for all their help and support in this long process and to Ms Erica for always answering all the questions, receiving donations from the community and after the event handing the prizes and vouchers out to the auction winners.

To all the volunteers on Friday night for setup Amy, Holly, Lynn, Louisa, Claudette, Joyce, Liz, Charmaine, Emilio, Nicky, Angela and Jo (some of us were still there after Midnight), on Saturday making sure the night went smoothly Claudette, Emilio, Colm, Craig, Garry, Louisa, Richard, Donna, Richard, Anthony, Jo, Angela, Cathy and Chris, and on Sunday for clean up the brave crew who felt the effects of the night as much as you did- Lynn, Amy, Collin and Jacquie, Craig and Katie, Liz, Cathy and Chris. THANK YOU!

Another big thank you goes to Liz and Richard for doing a stellar job as MCs and an extra thanks to Liz for organizing the punch for us all. Last but not least a big thank you to Rian for organizing our pizzas with the Carlisle Pizza.

As always, please forgive me if I forgot to mention your name. It’s not intentional. I do appreciate everyone’s help and support.

Now for the good news and for some numbers. Together with the St Mary’s generous community and all our donors we have raised just over $14000! This is a huge number and will be an enormous help to school in their effort to improve the technology infrastructure for our children.

Thank you so much everyone! All this couldn’t have been achieved without every single one of you!

Business & Service Directory

Here at the school we are constantly working to find new ways to make our community bond strong And bearing that in mind, We'd like to bring to you the "St Mary’s small business directory".

The aim of this directory is to be able to help families who run / operate small business reach out to a wider audience, by promoting their business / service on our newsletters and other communication channels.

By advertising your business on the directory you help a fellow parent and make some new friends in the process. (e.g. fitness instructors, dentist, painters, kids entertainers, cafe / restaurant, hair dressers, architect, interior designer, etc.)

We'd also like to ask all who may have a special skill set or practise that they’re good at and don’t mind offering their services to the school community and parents to please post their details as well (e.g. crochet, graphic design, resume writing, etc.,)

Please use the below link and fill in the google form; if you have any queries or concerns about the same please reach out to Rian, on 0431 207 205.

We aim to publish the directory on the schools multiple channels by end of this term and will keep populating it from time to time.

Thank you for your help and support

Regards,
