Helping our children to stay safe online: YouTube

The Carly Ryan foundation https://www.carlyryanfoundation.com/ is an amazing South Australian based organisation which provides online safety, cyberbullying and proactive strategies to help our young people navigate the online space.

Attached is a fact sheet about YouTube:

Some key takeaways:

  • The age rating in the App store is 13+
  • YouTube has over 1 billion users and it is one of the most popular platforms on the internet.
  • Anyone can access YouTube, but you need to create an account to upload content.
  • Inappropriate content can be ‘flagged’ if it breaches the YouTube community guidelines.
  • YouTube Kids is recommended for children under the age of 13.
  • YouTube Kids has features like ‘watch history’ ‘block channels’ and more ‘child friendly’ content

Ongoing monitoring and questioning ensures your children are using apps like YouTube safely, watching appropriate videos or uploading inappropriate videos.

Lutheran Care- Family Zone Ingle Farm

Our Inspiring Community: Brandon (Year 4)

Congratulations to Brandon who celebrated his First Holy Communion on Saturday. This was a culmination of months of preparation and dedication from Brandon and his family. Well done.
