Music Update 

Interesting music fact:   Students highly engaged in music have been found to be, on average, over 1 year ahead of their peers not engaged in school music

INTERMEDIATE BAND FEST

Congratulations to all students who participated in the South East Victorian Region Intermediate Band Fest day on Thursday 11th August. It was a fabulous day of music making where 18 students from EMC joined with 150 students from other secondary schools to rehearse three pieces of music with two guest conductors Dr Jemima Bunn and Sue Wedding who are both highly experienced music educators and conductors. There were so many students involved that we had to split into two separate bands! 

VCE MUSIC PERFORMANCE SOIREE

Bring along a picnic dinner and come and support the VCE Music Performance students as they prepare to perform for their final performance exam.

Students preparing for the performance exam will be performing their entire program of 25mins of music. Those who are not completing the performance exam will perform one piece from their repertoire as they have already been assessed.

Doors open at 4.45pm with the soiree beginning at 5pm sharp.

Tickets are free but we do ask for a gold coin donation for the Music Program’s Marimba Fundraiser.

MARIMBA FUNDRAISING EVENT

Thank you to those people who have already donated to this event, we are well on our way to purchasing a marimba later this year. If you would like to contribute to the Marimba Fundraiser please contact the front office. Families who donate $100 will have one of the Marimba keys named for them.

MELBOURNE RECITAL CENTRE: ACCELERANDO PROGRAM

Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are invited to apply for a free place in the Accelerando Program for 2023. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to receive instrumental lessons from leading artists, access world-class concerts, work with a professional mentor, participate in music industry workshops and perform in an end of year recital at Melbourne Recital Centre.
