Term 3, 2022

This Term….

Students have worked individually to plan, design and construct an arcade game made out of cardboard and household materials. On Friday 22nd of July the Year 1 students will come to our classrooms to play their arcade games. 

 

On Friday, 5 August the students will participate in the Mini Boss Incursion. They will work collaboratively in teams to design and create products. 

Literacy

This Term, Year 3 students will continue to build on their comprehension skills through various text types. They will be exposed to a broad variety of reading materials including Literacy Planet articles and stories, guided reading books, silent reading books and class novels.

 

We will continue to use the Daily 5 to further develop comprehension, reading accuracy and fluency and expanding vocabulary. The Daily 5 structure is:  Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Work with Words and Work on Writing. 

 

The writing focus will be on Information Reports and will focus on the Traits of 'Organisation' and 'Word Choice'. Students will continue to build on their editing skills through writing sessions and will explore various aspects of writing, using their Writer's Notebook. 

 

During handwriting sessions, the focus will continue on joined writing and letter formation in preparation for students obtaining their Joining Licence.

Numeracy

Number and Algebra

During Term 3 the students will continue to focus on all areas of number, in particular focusing on the relationship between multiplication and division. They will use their knowledge of number to assist in calculating money and giving change.

 

Measurement and Geometry

The students will explore many areas of measurement and geometry. They will focus on area, 3d shapes and angles.

Speaking & Listening

This Term we are focusing on listening carefully and with respect when teachers and other students are speaking.  The students will also prepare a design brief during inquiry sessions to present to the class for their Think Tank idea.
