Lorin Nicholson Incursion

Hello everyone, I hope you have been keeping dry and warm in this winter weather!

I am sure parents and carers of students in Years 3 and 7 have been told of the visit last week by Lorin Nicholson, Inspirational Speaker.

On Wednesday 27th July, Lorin visited Salvado Catholic College and spent the day with our Year 7 students guiding them through a Leadership and goal setting day.

The commencement of the day included our Year 3 students where Lorin introduced himself and spoke of his life experience being legally blind and how this disability has made him the person he is today.  Year 3 students have the leadership day to look forward to in 2026!

Lorin encourages his audience by stating that the biggest mountain we have to climb in life is the mountain within ourselves.

Below is a link where you can read a little more about Lorin.

Below is feedback about the day from some of our Year 7 students:

(Cooper)
I thought that Lorin taught me a lot of good life lessons such as never give up, the biggest mountain full of challenges is not the things in life but the feeling in your heart.
(Cassandra)
I found the activities really interesting to see the world though the blind man's eyes, also it was enjoyable to hear his stories and listen to him play his guitar. The whole incursion was very inspiring and i loved it.
(Asten)
I found the workshop very inspiring. It was great to listen to him talk about what he has gone through, The most fun part was probably the activities. The only thing is that I had already heard him talk about it in the past few years. Otherwise it was great!
(Hana)
I thought that the Lorin Nicholson incursion was very inspirational. After the incursion i was inspired to be more enthusiastic about things and makes me want to try new things.
(Chayse)
I thought that it was quite entertaining that he told us about his life and also about important life lessons. He was also quite inspiring like I said the messages that he was talking about were inspiring also it was entertaining how he played his guitar from time to time.
(Lily E)
I thought that the incursion day was really good, I found him very inspirational, I'm sure many other people did too. It was really fun because we learnt more about blindness. His stories were also really interesting. I also really liked the activities, we kind of built trust with our partner I guess.
(Laylah)
In my opinion, listening to Lorin Nicholson on Tuesday was very inspiring and motivating. When the incursion was over, I left feeling more confident and determined to fulfill my goals and to strive to achieve them.

Warm regards
