Junior School Update

The weeks are moving fast this Term!

Year 3 students have been busy looking at different genre in English, most recently, Information reports. The students have been researching a selected Australian State or Territory, collecting facts and data. They have been working hard to compile this information and type it out being mindful of spelling and grammar! Great efforts Year 3!

Year 4 students have been completing book reviews, which of course is very timely with Book Fair this week! Students have selected either a fiction or non-fiction book that they have read recently and are completing reviews. They are reflecting on the content and are gauging how much they have enjoyed it. Students are excited about the Open Night this afternoon as it provides an opportunity for students to explain and show parents what they are learning. Glad you enjoyed reading!

A day of obligation, the Year 5 students recently hosted the Feast of Assumption liturgy for the Year 3 and Year 4 students. The Assumption refers to the Blessed Virgin Mary being assumed, body and soul, into heaven. The student readings, reverence and thought-provoking prayer focus was impressive. Thank you for all of your efforts.

Year 6 students have been recently connecting with their artistic talents! Water colours and poems are wonderful and both teachers and students are proud of their work. Year 6 students also represented Salvado Catholic College by attending the Feast of Assumption Mass at the St Francis Xavier Parish Monday 15 August. A lovely mass, students participated and enjoyed sharing this occasion with all of the Xavier Catholic Primary students and staff.

The students who play drum, recently performed at a Performing Arts event and the results were extremely impressive. They definitely provided the ‘wow’ factor!

On Tuesday, more that 60 students from Salvado Catholic College attended a Performing Arts event and all surpassed all expectations. Mr G also attended this performance and is incredibly proud of their efforts. They sang “An Irish Blessing’ and ‘Salvado’ songs. Feedback included “ This is such a beautiful hymn and you sang sincerely and with such a sweet mellow sound” and “What a wonderful school song and you really enjoyed performing that one!”

Well done Junior School!
