Attendance

Every Day Counts

Daily school attendance is important for young people to succeed in education and to ensure they experience personal accomplishment at school in all areas, learning and with their social and emotional development. Young people who regularly attend school have better health outcomes, better employment outcomes, and higher incomes across their lives.

School participation is important as it maximises life opportunities for young people by providing them with education and support networks. Schooling helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values which set them up for further learning and participation in their community. When our students miss days at school unrelated to explained illness, they miss out on learning and practising the fundamental skills that will support them in achieving their goals in later years at school and in the life beyond school. There is no 'safe' number of days for missing learning at school. Each day missed engaging in learning is associated with reduced progression in numeracy, and lower achievement in literacy skills of reading and writing.

The school places great importance in all students being at school on time, every day.
