Year 4 News

It’s all about Inquiry in Year 4…

This week students have presented their “Sways” to their peers in group of like systems. All the children have been adding to their knowledge by taking notes while they listen to their friends answer open and closed questions about each system.

The children have become experienced very quickly with the features of Sway and incorporating photo stacks, videos and backgrounds to their presentations.

Students are also preparing for their exhibition where some students have decided to add to the appeal of their Sway information with a model of their system. They have been very busy using materials from home and the art room to construct their pieces.

Next week, students will be collaborating with their group to answer a big question that affects their system and this will be presented at our Human Body exhibition later in the term.

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from Xavier in 4D’s Dad, Matthew who is an optometrist. He talked to the Year 4’s about the eyes and how they are connected to each system. Students were surveyed on their eye colour and compared to the “world’s most popular eye colour”. They got to feel contact lenses, look at some optical illusions and learn that sometimes people perceive different colours and patterns. Students voted on their favourite pair of glasses for Miss Tilley and they got to try them on for size too.
