Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community

As I said in the special bulletin on Tuesday, welcome to Term Two and I hope that you were able to enjoy some relaxing family time over the Easter period. If you were able to travel like myself, I am sure that you too enjoyed the relaxing of COVID restrictions whilst being mindful that the virus is still circulating.

As detailed in Tuesday's bulletin, the relaxing of COVID restrictions within the community also includes restrictions across our school. These changes as explained in Tuesday's bulletin include:

face masks no longer being required to be worn within the school

parents no longer need to show proof of vaccination if entering the school beyond a quick visit to the office

household contacts no longer need to isolate for seven days

I ask that if you have not had the opportunity to read Tuesday's bulletin, that you please do so you can be aware of the new COVID protocols.,

Eve
Eve

Thank you to our Year Five/Six students who allowed us to revisit the events of Easter Sunday. Even though Easter took place during the middle of the term holiday, it was important for our school community to once again celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus as the foundation of our Christian Faith, and the very reason upon which our School Sacred Heart exists.

Mothers Day Stall

Next Friday 6th May, our students are invited to participate in the annual Mother's Day stall. During the day each class will visit the stall with their teacher and be given the opportunity to purchase a cherished gift for their mum. All gifts are $5.00. If there are enough gifts, students will be able to purchase a second gift. A big thank you to our Parents and Friends Committee members who have organised the stall.

After School Care

I am excited to announce that we have secured the services of another after school care provider. Youth Leadership Victoria will be replacing Extend in the coming weeks, once the required administrative procedures have been completed. I will keep you informed as to when parents and guardians will be able to enrol their children in the program. In the meantime I am committed to continue to provide after school care.

Anzac Day

Yesterday we stopped as a school to have our own ANZAC ceremony. As is the case in all schools in which I have worked, the importance of acknowledging ANZAC Day is imperative, as is the ability to reflect upon how lucky we are to live in a country that enjoys relative peace and harmony. In these turbulent times it is something we should not take for granted.

Lunch Orders

Lunch orders will commence for this term next Friday 6th May. As in the past orders need to be in by Thursday dismissal time for our students.

Election Day

Our school will be a polling booth for the Federal Election on Saturday 21st May. With many members of the local community visiting our school to vote, we would like to take the opportunity to generate some finance for the school. The Parents and Friends Committee is planning a cake stall as well as a used toy (good condition) stall. Further information will be sent as part of our newsletter next week. In the meantime we are looking for good quality children's toys that your family no longer use and for some delicious home made sponges and cakes to sell. Again more detail will be given next week.

It appears that we have an issue between our server and Hotmail email addresses. The emails we send are ending up in the Hotmail spam folder instead of the Inbox.
