Member Update - Accreditation Center for Quality in Healthcare, Kazakhstan

Despite the influence of the pandemic, 2021 was one of the busiest years for the Accreditation Center, Kazakhstan. The year was full of deadlines, submissions, a little bit of anxiety and lots of excitement.

Last year we underwent all three accreditations which are offered under ISQua EEA’s International Accreditation Program (IAP). We were able to submit two sets of accreditation standards, the surveyor training programme assessment, and our documents as an external evaluation organisation for peer review.

Due to the dedication and devotion of each member of our organization to the accreditation process, obstacles and difficulties encountered during the accreditation journey were much easier to overcome.

One of the most important things to emphasize is the customer service of the IEEA office.

Throughout the last year, we had lots of questions to clarify regarding one or the other standard or a process, since we wanted to comply with the standards at the highest level possible.  So, we were constantly sending emails to the IEEA staff about our questions and concerns, to which we were promptly answered and supported in the very helpful and politest way possible. We cannot stress enough how grateful we are for the staff of IEEA who were there for us the entire process which prolonged to one year if not more.

Also, we want to draw special attention to the virtual survey under the program of External Evaluation Organisations’ accreditation. Due to the Covid-19, a quadrennial onsite survey was decided to be conducted virtually. Three surveyors from different countries were assigned to evaluate our organization against defined standards, Jan Mackereth-Hill, Thaira al Madi and Carlos Goes de Souza

All three surveyors were extremely diplomatic and considerate, which allowed the staff, surveyors, and other stakeholders of the organisation to answer questions and show evidence in a pressure-free friendly environment. The 5-day survey passed in a blink of an eye, and the expected feeling of anxiety on the first day was quickly transformed into a feeling of anticipation.

After the completion of all accreditation programs, and obtaining our certificates, we held an offline briefing for all our surveyors, representatives of client organisations and stakeholders to summarize the outcomes of the past year, and to award outstanding medical organisations for their dedication to quality improvement.

During this event, one of the surveyors and representatives of ISQua's EEA, Jan Mackereth-Hill, gave a presentation on ISQua's EEA accreditation process and our accreditation journey as well.

It was a highly helpful topic for our audience to hear since not everybody knows what value ISQua's EEA accreditation holds in the field of quality assurance and patient safety, especially in challenging times like ours.
