Mrs Kath Baird
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope everyone is well and you've had a restful weekend.
This week has seen many opportunities for our students to be representing Sacred Heart School with pride.
Our PP5 swimming team were victorious in Sydney winning their relay at the Polding swimming trials. Thank you to Mrs Goddard for her commitment to training with our students each lunchtime as well as to the parents for their ongoing support of the team. Students will continue their training during lunchtimes this week.
Felicity and Georgia attended Confirmation on Sunday at St Joseph's in Gunnedah and had the opportunity to share this special occasion with their family, sponsor and Bishop Michael Kennedy. Congratulations!
Primary students will have the opportunity to participate in the ICAS assessments this year. Further information will be shared with parents including dates and registration.
Sacred Heart is participating in the schools exhibit at the upcoming Gunnedah Show. If you are attending the show please check out our handwriting, story writing and art entries from our students in the school's pavillion.
With the commencement of Term 2, there will be the change over from summer to winter uniform. There will be a transition period between the two uniforms according to the weather for the first four weeks of Term 2. During this transition period students are either to wear their summer uniform or their winter uniform but not a combination of the two. Please remember that sports jackets are only to be worn with the sports uniform and the navy jumper is to be worn with the formal school uniform. The only amendment to this during the four week period will be school photo day where all students will need to attend in their full winter uniform.
Thank you to all the parents who attended our school open morning last Wednesday. It was a great opprotunity for parents to see what their children have been learning about in their classrooms this term. Please take a look at the For Your Diary tab for upcoming dates for Week 11 as there have been some events added.
Our 2023 Transition to School program will be commencing at the beginning of Term 2. This term we will host three events for parents and new students to attend. Our next event is on Wednesday 30 March. We will be holding a Transition Information session for parents from 9am-9:30am to discuss the program and how it will work for this year. Wednesday 6 April will be our Easter Hat Parade with our students here at school as well as our transition students for this year. The parade will commence at 9:30am and please bring your best decorated hat!
If you know of anyone intending to enrol for 2023 please encourage them to contact me at the school.
As the term continues please remember that if you have any concerns, queries or questions don't hesitate to make contact with us and we can help you out. Our mission is to ensure that we can support students to feel safe, valued, cared for and respected so they can continue to be happy and engaged learners.
Take care
Kath Baird
