A note from Mr Jackson
While a number of our students and staff have had a disrupted term due to COVID-19, we are thrilled to complete the term with the school open! While school has been disrupted for many, learning has continued and even thrived! A special thanks to Lynda Whitechurch who has twisted and stretched the timetable in ways that would amaze any contortionist. Thanks also to the flexibility of all our students, teachers and all who participate in our community!
STOMP Finale
Daily activity is an important part of childhood development. Every primary age child should be participating in at least 60 minutes of moderate or physical activity. Our STOMP dance experience has been a wonderful opportunity for students to be stretched to explore the world of dance but also to exercise.
We look forward to celebrating with a brief fun performance at the end of the day. All are invited to watch from the balcony view overlooking the basketball courts!
Sports Carnival
It was wonderful to see our older students participate in the District Sports Carnival on Friday last week. Every student who participated did so in a manner that caused us to be proud. Although we were not at the front of the pack in all the events, there were some outstanding performances that we look forward to celebrating at assembly on Friday. Thanks to all who participated and shared in this big day!
Final Assembly and Early Finish
A reminder that tomorrow morning we will have our final assembly and enjoy an early end to the term. Students will be dismissed at 2:30pm and yard supervision will conclude at 2:45pm.
Fundraising Thanks
A special thanks to all who participated in the range of Easter celebrations over the last few days. Whether you purchased Easter buns from the Junior School Council, supported the canteen in the Easter morning tea or sold raffle ticket at FORP’s Easter Hampers, your generosity has been warmly received.
Professional Practice Day in Term 2
As part of the current negotiations around the Victorian Government Schools Agreement (VGSA) the Department of Education announced on Tuesday that teachers have been granted a Professional Practice Day in term 2. This day is set aside for staff preparation for student reports, assessment and planning. Students will not be at school on this day, although we are exploring the usual option for Out of School Hours Care to operate if required.
To give our community time to plan, I have tentatively scheduled the day for Monday 23 May, week 5 of Term 2. This will need to be confirmed by School Council early in Term 2. Once this date has been confirmed our wider community will be informed.
Dates for Term 2
Please keep your eyes on the dates for Term 2. All are recorded in the Newsletter. We look forward to starting back on Tuesday 26 April after ANZAC Day on Monday 25 April. It is important to remind parents that Monday 2 May has been set aside as a Curriculum Day. On this day students are not to come to school unless they have booked in with TheirCare for a day of fun and activities.
Rapid Antigen Tests Circulated
As mentioned on Compass, the routine twice weekly testing of students continues into term 2. The latest delivery of RATs have been circulated this week in preparation for weeks 1 and 2. Please ensure they are kept in a safe place ready to be used on the Monday night or Tuesday morning prior to arriving at school in Term 2.
