Term 2 in STEM
Welcome back to another exciting term in the STEM room. This term brings with it a new season, Autumn, as well as new areas of learning for children to explore. Below are some of the new topics this term...
Prep/Foundation
This term, Prep students will explore the world of Physical Science and investigate the movement of different objects in their unit of work titled 'Sliding and Rolling'. Students will use their skills of observation to identify different objects and investigate how the shape of an object may change the way the object can move.
Grade 1/2
Grade 1/2 Students have started their unit of work titled 'Growing and Changing' which explores the way living things change as they develop throughout their lives. Students will investigate the stages of growth in different lifecycles and compare the changes that occur between different species.
Grade 3
Grade 3 students will enter the Biological World when they tackle their unit of work titled, 'Its alive'. Students will use their skills of observation to identify features of different living organisms and work together to sort and classify animals into groups.
Grade 4
This term, Grade 4 students will investigate the Physical Science unit of work titled,
'The force is with you'. Students will explore how different forces affect the movement of an object and apply their understanding in collaborative class challenges.
Grade 5
Students in Grade 5 will be tackling the Chemical Science unit of work titled 'What's the matter?'. They will investigate the properties of solids, liquids and gases and demonstrate their scientific skills when conducting and analysing group experiments.
Grade 6
This term, Grade 6 Students will be exploring the world of Physical Science when they tackle their topic, 'Let there be light'. Students will investigate how light behaves and create their own experiments to measure the transparency of different materials.
It is bound to be a term of great discovery, I can't wait to get started! See you all in STEM.
