Share The Dignity
Thank you everyone who very kindly donated bags and hygiene products to support ‘Share the Dignity’. Combined, the staff and SLC of Frankston High School donated 43 handbags jam-packed with practical products to support the homeless community; an amazing achievement considering we only had one week to pull everything together. A special thanks goes to Ms Lauren Costanzo for organising this on behalf of the SLC.
Seeking Host Family
SEEKING HOST FAMILY FOR VOLUNTEER FRENCH LANGUAGE ASSISTANT
As a school we have been very lucky to have been allocated a full-time volunteer French language assistant for the 2017 school year, one who will be offering conversation sessions to our students on a full-time basis in both small group and one-on-one settings, within the context of our current learning program.
Her name is Joy Origer, and she is a 24 year old university graduate from Brussels, Belgium. Judging by the contact the faculty has had with her so far, Joy seems to be a very open, social person, one who is excited to share her culture with us, and eager to discover ours.
At this point a host family is needed for Joy, who will be arriving in Melbourne on 25 January 2017. As such, if you are able and inclined to host Joy for even just a few weeks, this could be a fantastic opportunity for your son or daughter to gain a large amount of valuable conversational practice, which would be especially useful in the case of our VCE students. A weekly $140 payment will be allocated to Joy’s host family in order to help cover the costs of room and board.
If you are interested in hosting Joy for any length of time, please contact Mr Joshua Reinders jreinders@fhs.vic.edu.au at school as soon as possible, as a host family will need to be confirmed for Joy before school breaks up on 20 December for the summer holidays.
