Year 7 Camp

Year 7s will embark on their first Outdoor Education camp to Maria Island.

  • Backhouse/ Fry  20-22 Feb
  • Penn/ Walker     22-24 Feb
  • Mott/Oats           27 Feb - 1 Mar

The students will be accompanied by Outdoor Education staff and their Connections teachers. Please make sure you have read the Operoo letter, respond accordingly, and ensure all medical information is up to date. Year 7-12 Athletics Carnival Information

Thursday, 23 February - 800 & 3,000m Events

The House Athletics events for the 800m and 3000m will be on Thursday, 23 February at the Domain Athletics Centre. Students have been emailed a form to sign up for these events. A bus will transport students at the following times. 

  • Year 9/10 students meet at the top courts (Elizabeth St) at 12.20pm.
  • Year 7/8 students meet at the top courts (Elizabeth St) at 1.00pm.
  • Year 11/12 students meet Boa Vista at 1.00pm

Students competing in just the 800m will return at approx 2.15pm. All other students competing in the 3,000m will return to school after the events by 3.30pm. 

 

The Year 7-12 Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday, 2 March. 

Rivulet Walk - Year 7 Connections Day

Mott and Oats: Thursday 23 February 

Backhouse and Fry: Wednesday 1 March 

Penn and Walker:  Friday 3 March  

 

Students will be participating in a day-long walk along the Hobart Rivulet.  The day will have an environmental science focus. Students will conduct environmental surveys at 4 - 5 sites along the Hobart Rivulet.  Students should arrive at school at the usual time and will travel by bus to Strickland Falls. Students will be bused back to school after pick-up from Molle Street at the end of the day for usual dismissal times.

 

On the day, students should wear sports uniform including a hat and a waterproof coat.  Students should also bring any personal medications, and sunscreen. A change of shoes or gumboots are also required. Students will need recess snacks, lunch and a drink. As this trip is a full day in the field, please ensure that students have packed plenty to eat and drink.  A clipboard and pencil will also be required.

Outdoor Education

Students have access to the outdoor education site via The School intranet.  This is where staff will post information about upcoming programs, student preparation and planning ideas and photos and videos of past trips.  

 

Please note that to access the site you will need to be logged on to a Friends’ school account.  Please sit down with your child to look at the variety of programs on offer.
