Music

Music this week began with a performance at the assembly of ‘Hi My Name Is Joe’.  Around half our year six students stepped up to lead the school. I was so impressed with how many students volunteered to perform. Thank you to all who took part.

We have number of little songs and beat poems that students can perform at the assembly. Assembly is in my planning time – so I can’t always be available to conduct and direct – however I’m very happy to let the students take charge.

Next Monday, the Corelli Strings, our middle orchestra, has two new pieces they are keen to share. Come along and enjoy.

Ukulele

Our year three and four students have been learning F and C chords on the ukuleles. Their first song is Iko Iko. A number of students have indicated that they have a ukulele at home. Please let them bring it along. I can tune it for them and it will help us to have a full set of ukuleles in the class sessions.

Innovation

Students are always keen to share something they have learned on their instrument.  Collin showed me an interesting variation on his cello!

Do You Play in a Band?

We have many talented parents in the school. I am recruiting musicians, technical support and bands for the fair in November. I don’t have a budget – but can provide food and drink to the performers. If your band would like to perform on stage at the IPS Fair drop me a line. I’d love a chat.
