Prep - Year 6

Head of Primary Update

Week 4 of term sees teachers and students settling well into the routines and rhythms of the daily schedules. Fitness at the beginning of the day for some classes, reading circles, mathematics groups, choir and jogging club, are some of the examples of learning activities going on in the Primary School.

Classroom Helpers

Quite a few parents took the opportunity to attend brief classroom helper training sessions last week.  If you are interested in helping in the classroom and haven’t done the classroom helper training yet, please contact Glenys Bailey via email so a suitable time can be arranged. The teachers highly appreciate having classroom helpers.

Class Carers

Each class has a Class Carer(s) and the willingness of these parents to pray and help care for teachers, students and families is really appreciated.  Class teachers will email families informing them of their Class Carer.

Icypoles

These continue to sell like ‘hot cakes’ each lunchtime for 50c.  Students are encouraged to bring the correct change if possible.  Our student leaders are doing a very efficient job serving the line of students at the beginning of lunch each day.

Uniform

Students are expected to wear the correct uniform each day, including socks.  If there is a reason why a student is not in the correct uniform, parents need to explain this to the class teacher.  Hair that touches the collar, needs to be tied up. Thank you to parents for your support in keeping high uniform standards.

Primary School Information

An email with video links from teachers of the Primary Learning Teams was sent out via email last week. The videos provided information relevant to each of the specific teams as well as general information.  Please take the time to view the videos.

Pets on College Property

In the interest of the safety and welfare of the whole College community, no family pets are permitted on College property at any time, unless they are registered guide / assistance / therapy dogs under the control of their owners, or the approved and trained school therapy dog. Exceptions to this rule, such as where a student would like to bring a pet for ‘show and tell’, must be requested and approved by the class teacher in advance.

We respectfully request that dogs not be brought into the Primary playground.

Prep B Maths Rotations

The students in Prep B participated in Maths rotations. Each rotation had a different activity based on what we had been learning during the week. The activities included practising writing the number 4 (the number of the week), cutting and pasting pictures of birds (only four) onto a branch, using our fine motor skills to thread, to which some of the students made necklaces. And to finish our learning about squares the students used their craft skills to made a ‘square person.’

Class 1/2J News

We are learning about our place in God’s world. We have been exploring what is man made, natural and constructed. We enjoyed exploring the school grounds and recording our findings. We asked questions such as What can we do to take care of God’s world? What features are at our local parks and reserves? Great learning and inquiry has taken place. Well done class.
