Learning and Teaching
To share our learning with our school community each class has been allocated a week to write a short paragraph to demonstrate a ‘celebration of learning’ that has been occurring in the classrooms for the newsletter. This may include: A brief paragraph as to what is happening in learning and teaching in the classrooms, examples of children’s learning, images, goals, learners' own words:
We have been fortunate enough to introduce Yorta Yorta Woman Roxanne Atkinson's board game Bigarrumdja Yama (Emu Run) into each year level in our school. The children have enjoyed playing, as well as learning Yorta Yorta Language.
Year 1
In Mathematics, Year One students have been investigating informal units of measurement. They have enjoyed learning about length, mass and capacity. This week, students have focused on the capacity of different containers. They used unifix blocks to decide which container held most and which held least. Students had to check their count to ensure their measurements were accurate.
Year 4
In Investigations, our Year Four students have been exploring identity and what it means to be YOU. As a part of this unit the students have created a Tim Burton inspired art piece of themselves. This also ties in with our shared text that we are reading this term which is Wonder. The students have been analysing different character traits within the book and this week we focussed on precepts, and the students have unpacked what each precept means to them.
