Year 10 Visual Art

There has been some terrific work taking place in Visual Arts by Year 10 students. The process of cutting interesting designs leads to some high quality outcomes, like Sher Ney Kaw's work.

Meanwhile Bianca was finishing off her embroidery, which she obviously enjoys - because the end result is great.

YEAR 10 Mentor Program - Student Advisory Group

Our Year 10 student leadership structure this year is going to be in the form of a committee that will meet with the Year 10 Learning Community Leader (Mr. Alldis) and Student Manager (Mr. Cooper) every 3-4 weeks to discuss issues that affect the Year 10 Cohort at Goldsworthy. Along with general information that students will pass along, the group is going to have two major focuses throughout the year.

  • The rollout of the Year 10 Mentor Program and co-designing what this program looks like throughout Terms 2, 3, and 4.
  • The rollout of our new School Wide Positive Behaviour Matrix and how we can support the implementation of SWPB throughout Year 10.

Students were asked to self-nominate themselves for the program and we are pleased to announce the sixteen students that will be in this group for 2023, listed below.

First Experience of Vocational Major (VM)and Victoria Pathway Certificate (VPC)

With the year kicking off into full swing, the Vocational Major (VM) and Victoria Pathway Certificate (VPC) groups have been hard at work.

Year 12 to the Rescue

Our community has started their Certificate II in Public Safety (Fire Rescue), having the opportunity to learn about firefighting and safety around fires. They had the privilege of pulling on firefighting uniform and got the experience of real people doing real things.

With the a fire fighting truck on site and the students being shown what each component was on the truck whilst also using the water hose, being the highlight for many of our students.

Could I have a Latte Please?

Our beloved Enterprise program has restarted with the year 12s taking ownership of the ‘School Yard Beans’, having had their first run on Tuesday this week. Fantastic effort and very delicious coffee!

Barking ?  with a silent R

Meanwhile the year 11s have started their journey towards becoming entrepreneurs coming up with brilliant ideas for small businesses. In the photo below we have Nikkera and Eli proudly showing off their unique (secret recipe) dog treats!

Welcome Back!

We have also seen several previous students (alumni) return and share their stories with our year 11s, to inspire them and to let our students know each person has a different journey and success looks different for everyone. Hard work and perseverance will get you anywhere you like.

Rebranding

Finally on a Friday we have our year 12

and VPC students preparing our new sign

for our VM/VPC centre.

With the first few coats taking place and ensuring they have a blank canvas to work with.

Stay tuned for the results. Look at the team hard at work whilst wearing PPE. Great job!

Year 11 Physics

The year 11 Physics class starts the year learning about waves, electromagnetic radiation and heat. To practice the dozens of new key words and ideas, students brainstormed and sorted the terms and created a detailed map of their learning for the first month of learning.

Having completed the task, Cooper decided to take charge of the class (sorry Mr Bayard!) and lead them through a game of ‘physics Pictionary’. Dividing into teams for some healthy competition, the class found a fun and creative way to practice some complicated vocabulary!

Year 12 Tops

The student designed tops are being worn widely by Year 12 and look terrific.
