Wellbeing

Meet Sotiroulla & Skye

Sotiroulla is our Disability & Inclusion Coordinator and Skye is the Wellbeing Coordinator. They are both part of the Wellbeing Team at Wales Street. They both play an integral role as part of the Wellbeing team and support teachers, students and families across the school. Wales Street Primary School is an inclusive community. Each person is valued and encouraged to grow and challenge themselves. Student Wellbeing is the foundation of all school activities and programs.

Wellbeing is enhanced and learning outcomes optimised when students feel connected to others and experience safe and trusting relationships. Our goal is to provide a safe and

engaging environment that supports and promotes the behavioural, emotional and

cognitive wellbeing of all our students.

Reach foundation workshop

Yesterday we had facilitators from the Reach Foundation come & work with our grade 6 classes.  The workshop complements our social and personal learning curriculum, providing students with positive and relevant strategies and skills they can apply at school and to their everyday lives.

Wales Street Agreed Behaviour Matrix: Staff and students have developed a positive behaviour expectations matrix. The matrix clearly states the behaviours we expect of our students in the classroom, outside in the playground and in the digital world. The behaviour expectations have been grouped in accordance with our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Kindness. This document is included in ‘Establishing a Learning Community.’

On the 9th of February all of the grade 6’s attended a Reach workshop. This incursion was about building social and emotional skills as well as developing self awareness. The workshop was also designed to help us transition to high school. The reach team used many creative teaching methods such as diagrams and interactive games. We were shown how your actions can have a massive impact on others' day.

They talked about how when you grow up you become more self confident and yourcomfort zone can shrink and different experiences can affect this.

Our favourite part was the ‘cross the circle’ game that was designed to help us get to know our peers and understand our emotions.

Thanks again to Reach for a great incursion!
