Food services update

Commencing in January 2023, Clayfield College have partnered with Chartwells to provide the catering services for our café, boarding and function spaces.

Chartwells is a dedicated provider of catering services to the Australian education market and pride themselves on taking the lead in developing and delivering fresh and innovative concepts that add value to the schools they partner with, and the students they serve. With this commitment to specialisation and continuous improvement Chartwells are able to deliver tailored and competitive solutions that will support our own vision for the future.

Chartwells focuses on nutritionally balanced and innovative food services for students and the wider school environment. Adhering to their ‘smart food’ program while at the same time addressing portion size, quality and freshness they also focus on atmosphere and a sense of place.

The attention to detail with merchandising, branding, signage and product presentation will perfectly compliment our soon to be refurbished dining space. A branded, modern and high street approach to service, combined with the discreet use of their “smart food” program and creative menu design, signage, ticketing and uniforms will be professional yet fun, consistent yet offering variety every day. Everyone at Clayfield College will be catered for, and that means the gluten free, the dairy free, the vegetarian or the low GI customer are always able find something to satisfy their appetite whether it be sweet, savoury or just a treat.

Chartwells’ ‘Smart Food’ Program Operating Principles have been designed as qualitative over-arching guidelines to positively influence the quality and nutritional value of menus and to facilitate their development. This has been designed by Chartwells and Nutrition Australia, and is independently endorsed and reflective of the National Guidelines for Healthy Eating.

We appreciate that with any change that this may result in some challenges for some key stakeholders. Whilst feedback in a short period of time has been positive it is important that we share key changes and opportunities for improvement. Some of the following points may give further clarity.

  • New Flexi online menu – may look different and we encourage you to navigate past the sub-headings to identify the extended product ranges
  • Breakfast online menu – has now been introduced based on feedback provided
  • Sandwiches and variety – improved the labelling and product range available online, please ensure you navigate past the sub-headings
  • Menu substitutions – challenges with new suppliers and delivery schedules has resulted in some menu substitutions and this should now be rectified
  • Payment methods – currently are eftpos and flexi online orders. Student cards to be implemented this month as an additional method of payment

Chartwells welcome your feedback and ask that you use the following address to liaise with them direct - Clayfield Cafe Clayfieldcafe@chartwellsedu.com.au

This partnership with Chartwells excites us, and we know the community at Clayfield College will be delighted with the fresh and nutritious meals they will see every day. We are looking forward to welcoming Chartwells into the community, and look forward to working with them in 2023 and beyond.
