Ready to Learn

As we move further into the term I am pleased to see some great learning taking place across the campus.  In Mathematics classrooms, students are actively participating in building thinking classrooms, solving problems standing, in groups, at the many whiteboards in each room.  In Technologies, students are writing code to create applications and in Literature there are heated discussions about the impact of poetry on ourselves and others.  Our students are canoeing and career planning, moulding clay and manipulating money, exploring our wildspaces and expanding their minds.

Our focus with students has been to help them ensure they are ready to learn when they come to school.  The poster below has been distributed all over the school and you will see one of these in every classroom.  Students are reminded to be ready to learn, and take responsibility for their learning, in partnership with their teachers.  These statements have been developed in alignment with research about habits that best support learning, and transformed into child friendly language.

Sound Bites

Our student leaders have launched themselves into the new year with gusto and will start with a fundraising picnic for Secondary students in the quadrangle on Wednesday 1 March.  This is a lovely way for our students to support their friends with hearing loss. Students can bring a picnic blanket and lunch to share on this day. Please bring a gold coin (or two) donation on the day.

Please support this worthwhile event.
