The Early Years

Welcome

Welcome to the 2023 school year! Our Early Years have been very busy learning the new routines of their 2023 Learning Spaces. The first few weeks at this stage of school are so important, as they can promote a positive attitude towards the school environment.

On a personal note, I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the staff, parents and students for the unbelievably warm welcome I have received since day one. I feel very blessed to be a part of the Salvado Catholic College community. I would also like to welcome all the other new staff to the Early Years Cluster!

New adventures

All the students have settled in well to the new school year, we have had some tears… from both our students and their parents, but generally we have seen happy, smiling faces entering the Learning Spaces. This is a credit to all parents for helping your child build their confidence and a big credit to the teachers for supporting these young people and providing a safe environment for them to flourish and learn. A big thank you to all parents for helping with the transition in the mornings by dropping your child at the door or gate. The children really benefit from a quick goodbye, and we appreciate your ongoing support.

Events

Last week the Pre-Primary to Year 3 students took part in a Start of Year Prayer Service, the students displayed reverence and happily joined in singing the hymns. Thank you to Miss Giovanna Arfuso, Miss Annie Hughes and the College Leadership Team for helping.

Our Parent Information Sessions were well attended across all year levels. Thank you to all the parents who filled out the volunteer sign-up sheet, we appreciate your support. If you were unable to attend the Parent Information Session and have availability to volunteer your time, please let your child’s Learning Space Teacher know ASAP. This information will be passed along, and you will be notified when assistance is required.

A Message from the School Health Nurse

Welcome to the new school year. Emmanuel and Kate are the School Health Nurses who will be visiting your school in 2023.

School Health Nurses work in schools to promote healthy development and wellbeing so students may reach their full potential. A major part of our work is focused on early intervention and the School Entry Health Assessment program.  Additionally, the nurse can be contacted at any time throughout primary school if you have concerns about your child’s health, development or wellbeing.

School Health Nurses serve as a health contact point for children and their families, providing information, assessment, health counselling and referral. They also work in partnership with schools to support teachers in health related curriculum and can assist in the development of health care plans for students with complex and chronic health needs.

The services provided are free and confidential.

If you have a concern about your child’s health, development or wellbeing please don’t hesitate to contact us via email -  Emmanuel.semblante@health.wa.gov.au
